Below are some of the best places for a Tanzanian Balloon Safari:
Hot-Air Balloon Flights In The Serengeti
Fly over central Serengeti – A balloon flight over Central Serengeti, normally called “the heart of Serengeti” offers game viewing all year around with abundant water attracting a varied wildlife population.
It is towards April that the herds migrate North in pursue of fresh pastures and water. At this time, moving columns of wildebeest can be seen forming around the Central corridor of the Serengeti and around Moru kopjes area.
The clarity of the air affords us views of the Ngorongoro Highlands and sometimes Lake Victoria. From our lofty vantage point, we can appreciate the Serengeti in all its majestic scale, and we have a perspective untethered by the narrow confines of vehicles and roads.
Hot-Air Balloon Flights In Tarangire
Balloon safari fly over Tarangire Park – A balloon flight over Tarangire National Park will give you an aerial view of one of Africa’s most beautiful wildlife area. The Tarangire landscape is a diverse mix of granite ridges, river valleys and swamps. Vegetation is a mix of Acacia woodland, seasonally flooded grasslands and the thousands of Baobab trees which are dotted throughout the park. Enjoy a journey more of an immersion in the scenery, aural vista and the peace of scanning for the wildlife below.
Hot-Air Balloon Flights In Ngorongoro
Balloon flying over Ngorongoro – Discover balloon safaris in the Ngorongoro Conservation area which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A balloon safari in the Ngorongoro area offers a unique balloon flight offering a trip to through the cradle of mankind to the plains where the world-famous wildebeest migration begins.
Hot-Air Balloon Flights In Ruaha
Hear the hornbill tapping at his reflection on the car window and the hippo’s morning chorus snorting in the river as we float low overhead. With our balloons safaris we offer a unique perspective above the landscape which allows us to search for the elusive and shy just over that next bush or suddenly come upon a herd of 100 buffalo. Gentle winds steer the balloon between the baobabs and acacias, dipping down to just above the wide Ruaha River and then they are bearing us up to five hundred feet where the dawn chorus rises into the painted sky. Ruaha is a meeting point for the wildlife of southern and eastern Africa and it is here that you might just see something really special.
What To Expect During Tanzania Balloon Safaris
Before The Balloon Flights;
Pickup and transfers; one of our drivers will visit your safari lodge the evening before the flight to agree with you the time for collection in the morning, answer any questions on what to wear and to bring with you. Departure starts from your lodge where you are collected by one of our drivers in a 4×4 Land Cruiser safari vehicle before dawn (generally between 0400am and 0500am).
You’ll be woken up before sunrise and whisked away on an early drive to the launch site. It can be quite chilly at this time of the morning, and even cooler once you’re up in the air, so be sure to wrap up in a few extra layers.
Note: All flight balloons are well maintained and serviced regularly, to ensure that your experience is a safe one.
During The Balloon Flights:
As you rise above the skies of the Serengeti plains, before your eyes to feast on the golden sunrise, charming sceneries, with free-ranging wildlife it is likely you will spot elephants, giraffes, various antelope species, and ostriches from the balloon. If lucky you will also see hyenas, lions, and cheetahs, depending on the day’s flight path, you may also float along the Mara River and see hippos and crocodiles.
On average, a hot-air balloon safari lasts between one and half hours. During this time, you’ll get an idea of just how vast the landscape is, and have the opportunity to spot all sorts of game from your unique vantage point.
If you happen to visit the Serengeti in between July and October, you will probably see the “Great Migration” of over a million wildebeest, along with large numbers of zebras and gazelles. Witnessing this wonder from the balloon ride is the best way to catch the migrating herds; an experience not to be missed.
After The Balloon Flights:
Coming back down to land can be slightly bumpy, so anyone with a bad back or similar injury should get the all-clear from their doctor beforehand.
Once you’re back on the ground, your balloon safari finishes in style whereby you toast your landing to earth with champagne breakfast in the Serengeti plains (complete with sparkling wine), served in the bush close to wherever you land.
